Jet2 refund for cancellation.
Are you eligible to it? If so, what are the applicable rules?
How can you get a refund from Jet2 if your Jet2 flight is cancelled? Are you entitled to a refund if you are issued a voucher instead of cash? It’s important to note that if you are flying with Jet2, you are protected under both EU and UK law. The laws regarding flight cancellations are specific and may entitle you to a full refund and compensation in some cases.
Jet2 Refund For Cancellation
If your Jet2 flight is cancelled, there are two possible scenarios depending on the timing.
If the cancellation happened not more than 14 days before your scheduled departure, you may be eligible for flight compensation + Jet2 refund for cancellation. However, if the cancellation occurred outside of this timeframe (i.e., more than 14 days before departure), you can only obtain a refund.
So, let’s start with a question — when was your flight cancelled?
Scenario 1: Flight Is Cancelled Less Than 2 Weeks Before the Trip
You can get: Refund or new flight + compensation (if it’s due to the fault of Jet2).
If your flight is cancelled less than 2 weeks before departure, it is considered a last-minute flight cancellation. Jet2 will offer you the choice between a new flight or a full refund. The decision is entirely yours to make. You can choose either a new flight or a refund, whichever suits you best.
If the flight cancellation can be attributed to the airline’s fault, along with the refund (or new flight), you may be eligible for Jet2 flight cancellation compensation. However, if the cancellation is due to adverse weather conditions or other “extraordinary circumstances,” you are only entitled to either a refund or a new flight.
Additionally, you have a right to care and assistance from Jet2.
This applies if your flight is canceled no more than 2 weeks prior to the scheduled trip.
Keep in mind that are not obligated to accept Jet2 vouchers. All refunds and flight compensations must be provided in cash or transferred to a bank account. If Jet2 insists on offering vouchers instead of monetary compensation, kindly decline the offer and request a direct transfer of funds to your bank account.

Scenario 2: Flight Is Cancelled More Than 2 Weeks Before the Trip
You can get: Jet2 refund for cancellation or new flight to your destination.
In this situation, you are eligible to receive a refund or be offered an alternative flight.
However, since it is not a last-minute cancellation, you are not entitled to compensation. Nevertheless, you still have the right to request a refund if you do not wish to travel on the new flight. Jet2 is obligated to provide you with this option.
The refund should be issued within 7 days.
Furthermore, the refund must be transferred directly to your bank account.
What If You Miss a Connecting Flight Due to Cancellation?
Do you need to be on time for another flight?
Your Jet2 flight is cancelled, but you have another flight to catch? If you miss it, it’s your responsibility. Because it’s a self-transfer, and the airline is not liable for missed connections.
Jet2 doesn’t sell airline protected connecting flights. So, you will have to deal with the consequences yourself and book yourself on a new flight.

Jet2 Cancelled Flight Refund: FAQ
1. If My Flight Is Cancelled, Do I Get a Refund?
All of Jet2 flights are either to or from the EU or the UK.
Which means that the following rules are applicable to all Jet2 flight cancellations.
If you are flying with an EU or UK airline and your flight either departs from or arrives in the EU/UK, you are protected by the EU and UK laws. According to the European Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 and the UK Regulation 261, in the event of a flight cancellation, you have the option to request a Jet2 refund for cancellation instead of a new flight to your intended destination. Keep in mind that you can choose only one option – either a refund or new flight. You can’t get both.
If your flight is cancelled less than 14 days before the scheduled trip and it is due to Jet2’s fault, you are entitled to Jet2 flight cancellation compensation, in addition to the refund or alternative flight. The compensation amount can be up to 600 euros per passenger, including infants who do not occupy a separate seat.
2. Jet2 Voucher Refund or Cash, Can I Get Money?
What if Jet2 is offering you a voucher instead of compensation?
If Jet2 offers you a voucher instead of compensation, remember that you are not required to accept it. EU and UK regulations require airlines to provide compensation and refunds in cash or bank transfer, not vouchers or coupons. So, be sure to ask for money instead of Jet2 voucher. However, if a voucher is more convenient for you, it is okay to accept it.
Have you already been given a voucher?
Demand a refund to your bank account.
3. Jet2 Refusing Refund For Cancellation?
If you filled in the Jet2 refund form and have not received a full refund, do not give up.
You can remind Jet2 that it is their obligation to provide a full refund, and reference the UK Regulation 261 and Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, specifically Articles 5 and 8. If this does not help, you can contact the national enforcement body of the country where your flight departs from.

4. Can You Get Both Compensation and Refund?
There are certain circumstances where you can receive both.
If your flight is cancelled less than 14 days before departure and the cancellation is attributed to the airline’s fault, you have the option to request a full refund while also claiming the flight cancellation compensation Jet2 owes you.
Both the refund and cancellation compensation must be transferred directly to your bank account. It is important to note that you are not obliged to accept any coupons or vouchers. If you have already been issued one, kindly request a cash refund from Jet2 instead of a voucher. They are obligated to accommodate your request for an exchange.
Keep in mind that you also have a right to care.
5. How Long Does It Take To Receive a Refund for a Canceled Flight?
Refunds should be made within 7 days.
6. Can I Claim a Refund if I Don’t Have Travel Insurance?
Yes. You don’t have to provide any insurance documentation.
7. Can I Get a Refund for Non-refundable Tickets?
If it’s a Jet2 flight, then yes.
Yes because your flight was cancelled by the airline. It was not your fault.
If it was cancelled by you, you would not be able to get a refund.
8. Can I Get a Refund If I Cancel My Flight With Jet2?
Yes, you can cancel your flight with Jet2, but whether you get a full, partial, or no refund at all depends entirely on the terms and conditions at the time of your booking.
Different fares have different cancellation policies.
A ‘flexible fare’, for example, may permit a full refund if you cancel within a certain time frame. However, a ‘non-refundable fare’ will not provide any refund regardless of when you cancel. It is important to check the terms and conditions of your ticket before cancelling.
